Forward House employs full-time, part-time, and casual staff to provide exceptional service for our clients. We have a dedicated team of professionals who enjoy diversity, challenge, and laughter. Through employing Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Trauma-Informed Practice, we provide a strengths-based culture that focuses on the abilities of clients, volunteers, students, and staff alike.

Current Career Opportunities
Executive Director
The Executive Director of Forward House Community Society, in collaboration with the Board of Directors (Board) and assistance from various committees and individual Directors, is responsible for providing leadership for all operations and services at Forward House and Forward Recovery Centre, supporting adults living in Parksville, Qualicum Beach and the surrounding area, who are experiencing mental health and/or addiction recovery challenges The complete job description can be found here.
Part-time Advocate
Our Forward House Advocates work with our Service Members, providing information and support in a safe, trauma-informed, and strength-based environment. This includes helping members access community-based services, facilitating psycho-social-recreational activities, participating in the meals program, encouraging independence, and fostering opportunities for the enhancement of social and life skills. Recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice is inherent in all aspects of service delivery. The complete job description can be found here.
Practicum Placements
Providing Student Experience
We proudly offer college and university students the opportunity of practicum placements and internships. We have hosted students from Vancouver Island University (VIU), University of British Columbia (UBC), Stenberg College, Discovery College, Sprott Shaw College, North Island College, and College of the Rockies. In addition, we invite local students to come for one or two day visits to learn more about our programs.
Students coming to Forward House include those studying in the programs such as Social Work, Community Support Worker, Mental Health Worker, and Human Services. Our goal is to give students the opportunity to learn more about Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Trauma-Informed Practice for people who are experiencing mental health and/or recovery challenges.
